More than 110 researchers, industry leaders and practitioners from 28 different countries gathered at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia, Bulgaria. We discussed the future trends in new business models and the transition towards a sustainable economy. One of the most important takeaways of the conference is related to the need of international and multidisciplinary research in the field. This need was well voiced by Prof. Dr. Jan Cornelis, former vice-rector of Vrije Universiteit Brussel, during the closing session of the conference “What I heard during the NBM conference strengthens my conviction that universities should pay much more attention to multicultural skills in the curricula and engage more intensely in taking up their social responsibility of providing international experience to their students”.
